CHIRON Project
The main purpose of this project is to develop methods for utilising the Swedish digital sites and monuments record to perform a thorough landscape study for a selected region in Sweden, and to evaluate the potential for understanding prehistoric societies through this kind of studies. The tasks involved transforming the databases to a format that is usable and informative, combining different types of data sources in a GIS and developing methods for statistical analysis at a inter-site level. Other activities under the year include work on GIS standards for archaeology and a case study of the site of Qatna, Syria.
